THE BOYS GETS A PREQUEL SERIES FOLLOWING TWO OF ITS BIGGEST VILLAINS

The Boys is in its endgame as a series, but only just getting started as a TV empire. The violent Prime Video superhero satire will soon have a third spin-off joining the college-set Gen V and the animated The Boys: Diabolical, along with the still-in-development The Boys: Mexico.

Revealed by Deadline and formally announced at The Boys’ San Diego Comic-Con panel on Friday, the new series is a prequel called Vought Rising, and will re-unite previous The Boys guest stars Aya Cash and Jensen Ackles as Stormfront and Soldier Boy, respectively. (The pair will also produce.)

Vought Rising is “a twisted murder mystery about the origins of Vought in the 1950s, the early exploits of Soldier Boy, and the diabolical maneuvers of a Supe known to fans as Stormfront, who was then going by the name Clara Vought,” according to The Boys boss Eric Kripke and Vought Rising showrunner Paul Grellong,

In The Boys, Soldier Boy and Stormfront are two of the first successful supes created by the Vought Corporation, and like the present-day roster of The Seven, their backstories are a lot darker than the public knows.

A release window is still a ways off, but until then fans can catch Jensen Ackles returning as Soldier Boy in the forthcoming fifth and final season of The Boys.
