CHRISTINE BARANSKI PUT THE GOLD IN 'THE GILDED AGE' AT THE EMMYS

Christine Baranski is positively glowing on the Emmys red carpet.

The Tony-winning star was perfectly on theme this evening in a gilded gown with a wrap-style collar and an abstract floral pattern. She kept things jewel-toned with ruby point-toed shoes and a green-studded bracelet.

Baranski is nominated tonight for her work on The Gilded Age in the Outstanding Supporting Actress for her portrayal of the unrelenting matriarch of the van Rhijn family, Agnes van Rhijn, as she tries to hold the line of New York's oldest all fluent families against the nouveaux riche incursion of the late 1800s.

“I always wanted to play queens or ladies rather than victims," the former T&C coverstar told us ahead of the show's 2022 premiere. "I was never good at playing victims. I was always better at playing the character of the woman who was more in command of her life.”

Created by Downton Abbey's Julian Fellowes, The Gilded Age is set to return for a third season in 2025. Along with Baranski, Carrie Coon is nominated for her work on the series, along with four additional nominations, including one for Outstanding Drama Series

The series, which is set to return in 2025, received 6 nominations this year, including Coon's lead actress nod as well as an Outstanding Supporting Actress nomination for Christine Baranski, and a nomination for Outstanding Drama Series.
