THE DRINKERY ANNOUNCES A REBRANDING (AGAIN). THIS TIME WITH A CHEEKY NAME AND CHEAP DRINKS

A popular Over-the-Rhine party spot is making the most of a challenging situation − with cheap drinks and a cheeky rebrand.

The Drinkery will temporarily rebrand as The Setback to embrace a delay in the bar's planned complete remodeling, owners Four Entertainment Group, also known as 4EG, said in a release Thursday.

The new name acknowledges the situation and "reflect(s) the resilience of both the business and its loyal customers," the release reads.

The bar will open as The Setback on Friday, Sept. 20, a spokesperson for 4EG told The Enquirer in an email.

4EG announced in July that the bar, located at 1150 Main St., would close in late August and reopen as Nice Life, a laid-back cocktail lounge.

But plans have changed. The renovation is postponed until spring 2025 "due to unforeseen delays," the owners said in the release.

The party won't stop in the meantime.

The Setback will keep The Drinkery’s "long-standing tradition of good times and inexpensive drinks" the release said. Beer, wine and wells will be sold for $5 or less.

There will be some changes too. The Setback will offer a new cocktail menu, with names like "Oopsie Daisy" and "Better Luck Next Time."

The bar also plans to implement live cover bands by the end of the year in addition to DJs.

While The Setback is open, 4EG will continue to prepare for the remodel by upgrading restrooms, sound and lighting.

Regarding plans for Nice Life, managing partner Bob Deck said in the release, “It will absolutely be worth the wait." Nice Life will feature a redesigned bar and dance floor, with rustic chandeliers, artwork and rose-gold disco balls.

The Drinkery originally opened in 2010 and was purchased by 4EG in April 2023. The company operates bars and restaurants in Ohio, Northern Kentucky, Chicago and Florida. Some of its popular Cincinnati venues are Rosedale, the Lackman, Mac Shack and Japp's.
