Marvel Cinematic Universe fan-favorite and Star Wars icon Ming-Na Wen pays her respects to her Street Fighter co-star, the late Peter Tuiasosopo.

Directed by Courtney Solomon from a script written by Carroll Cartwright and Topper Lilien. Dungeons & Dragonsfeatured an ensemble cast led by Justin Whalin, Marlon Wayans, Zoe McLellan, Lee Arenberg, and Kristen Wilson in the roles of the thieves Ridley and Snails, the mage Marina, dwarf fighter Elwood, and elven ranger Norda, respectively. The film also starred the legendary Jeremy Irons in the role of the film's lead antagonist, the dreaded Mage Profion, as well as Thora Birch as the magnanimous Empress Savina.

Dungeons & Dragons followed its core cast of characters as they banded together to save the realm from the threat of Mage Profion and his malevolent Council of Mages, who seek to claim the Rod of Savrille in a bid to usurp Empress Savina's throne before she can bring true freedom to the realm. Upon its release, Dungeons & Dragons was met with widespread disappointment on the part of critics and audiences alike.

Several Dungeons & Dragons Movies Have Been Made

Over the course of its theatrical run, Dungeons & Dragons only managed to bring in $33.8 million against a budget of $45 million. Surprisingly, this didn't prevent two sequels from being made in the form of 2005's Dungeons & Dragons: Wrath of the Dragon God and 2012's Dungeons & Dragons 3: The Book of Vile Darkness, both of which were released direct-to-video.

The latest live-action adaptation of the series, 2023's Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, was a far more successful endeavor, yet still failed to leave a major impression on critics or audiences. While Honor Among Thieves brought in over $208 million at the global box office against a budget of $150 million, this was still hardly enough for it to be considered any sort of major financial success for Paramount Pictures, Hasbro, or Entertainment One.

Fortunately, the overwhelmingly positive response to the film has been enough to secure at least a spin-off television series, even if the likelihood of a feature film follow-up seems to be getting slimmer by the day.

Dungeons & Dragons is currently available to stream for free through the official Warner Bros. Entertainment YouTube channel.
