SMILE 2 RELEASES GORY NEW POSTER AND CONFIRMS OFFICIAL RUN TIME

A new promotional poster for Smile 2 has been released. The image comes as the movie prepares to terrify audiences during the upcoming spooky season.

Shared via the official Smile X account, the poster features a bloody smile with frightened eyes on a white background with the words, "it's the last thing you'll see" appearing at the top. Creepy little hands that appear to be reaching for something are seen at the end of the drops of blood. The caption also teases the release of a new trailer for the film. According to Bloody Disgusting, the movie has a runtime of two hours and one minute, which is slightly longer than the first film's one hour and 55 minutes.

Written and directed by Parker Finn, the movie serves as a sequel to 2022's Smile, which is based on one of Finn's 2020 short film Laura Hasn't Slept. The story follows Dr. Rose Cotter (Sosi Bacon) a therapist whose life is turned upside down after she witnesses the horrific suicide of a patient who claimed to have just seen someone else take their own life. Rose soon finds herself caught in the same deadly cycle and haunted by eerie, smiling figures everywhere she goes.

Smile 2 Features A New Cast

Smile 2 stars Naomi Scott as singer Skye Riley. Per the official synopsis, "the story begins when Skye starts experiencing a series of increasingly disturbing and daunting events as she is about to go on tour and is forced to face her dark past to regain control of her life before it spirals out of control." The cast also includes Rosemarie DeWitt, Lukas Gage, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Peter Jacobson, Raúl Castillo, Dylan Gelula, Ray Nicholson, and Kyle Gallner reprising his role as Joel from the 2022 movie.

Despite Smile earning an impressive $217.4 million at the global box office, Finn initially had no plans for a follow-up. "For me, as a filmmaker, I never want to retread and just do something I've already done again the exact same way," he said when asked about the sequel. " In a universe where there could be any... more story to tell from Smile, I'd wanna make sure it was surprising and different and not what people were expecting after the first one."
