WWE CHAMPIONSHIP STEEL CAGE MATCH SET FOR SMACKDOWN NEXT WEEK

Friday Night SmackDown will leave FOX starting next week, as the blue brand returns to the USA Network, where it made its home from 2016 to 2019. Naturally, WWE is making sure to book a major championship match to mark the occasion.

Indeed, during the opening segment of this week’s episode of SmackDown, WWE Champion Cody Rhodes answered Solo Sikoa’s challenge for a match by saying Jacob Fatu is the guy who is most deserving. But because Sikoa still has a stranglehold on this new version of The Bloodline, Fatu willingly stepped aside for his Tribal Chief.

So Rhodes agreed to face Sikoa.

Instead of anticipating massive interference, as is typical for Bloodline matches, SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis announced he had a solution for that — a steel cage match.

It’s safe to assume that the steel cage won’t actually ensure there is no outside interference. And considering the show, and how important it is for the company, it’s probably also safe to assume one Roman Reigns will be in attendance.

We’ll see how it all plays out next week.
