KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - There’s a buzz in the air in Kansas City.
“You can literally feel the energy,” Jordan Johnson, a Chiefs fan from Kansas City, Missouri, said. “Like, it’s absolutely electric.”
Chiefs fans across the country are gearing up for Sunday’s AFC Championship game against the Bills. Many were at Union Station Monday to snap shots at photo ops stationed throughout the Grand Hall.
“The Chiefs have a lot of support from all their fans,” KCMO resident Shawn Burnam said. “They be out there in zero-degree weather supporting them. So it’s big. We’re the biggest kingdom.”
“You have to just experience it to understand how incredible it is,” Johnson said.
Chiefs Kingdom spans far and wide. Courtney Bissinger came into town from Rapid City, South Dakota.
“The community here is incredible,” she said. “Even being in Union Station, everybody around here is just family.”
A mother and son duo visiting downtown Kansas City traveled from Washington D.C. for the game.
They’ve made it their tradition to support the team in-person in the postseason, no matter where they’re playing.
“It is a lot of traveling, but Kansas City is worth it, the Chiefs are worth it, and he’s worth it,” Nabee Kazie said. “He’s a huge Chiefs fan.”
As the Kingdom anxiously counts down the days to kickoff, there’s one universal sentiment: “I have confidence in the Chiefs beating the Bills and going to the Super Bowl,” Burnam said. “Another Super Bowl for the Chiefs.”
Sunday’s game kicks off at 5:30 p.m. on KCTV5.
