OSHI NO KO LIVE-ACTION REVEALS ITS LIFELIKE LEAD IN NEW TRAILER RELEASE

The live-action adaptation of the hugely popular Oshi no Ko has revealed the first official character trailer for the upcoming movie and TV series, with the new trailer providing an in-depth look at lead protagonist Aqua Hoshino.

Via the Oshi no Ko live-action's official X (formerly Twitter) account, Aqua received the work's first character trailer for the upcoming adaptation, with the post captioned, "Acting is just a means to an end for me to stay in the entertainment industry─." Kaito Sakurai has been cast as the character, who will feature alongside his sister Ruby (Nagisa Saito) and friends/love interests Kana Arima (Nanoka Hara) and Akane Kurokawa (Mizuki Kayashima). Oshi no Ko's New Live-Action Trailer Focuses on the Revenge-Seeking Aqua Hoshino

As previously reported, the Oshi no Ko live-action adaptations will premiere as a TV series on Prime Video on Nov. 28, 2024, and a movie on Dec. 20, 2024, which will be distributed worldwide by Toei. The new Aqua trailer is the first of seven to be released consecutively, with Asuka Saito (Ai Hoshino) and Ano (Mem-cho) likely to feature in addition to the aforementioned cast list.

The latest trailer comes as Oshi no Ko Season 2 is currently airing on HIDIVE to high praise. Season 2 was one of the most anticipated anime in the build-up to the current anime season and is living up to expectations, currently ranked as the highest-rated anime of Summer 2024. The latest Episode 4 was described as a "near-perfect episode" in a CBR review, dredging up Aqua's unresolved trauma and setting up the season to explore his recovery. The second season as a whole adapts the "Tokyo Blade" arc, which ironically deals with the struggles of adapting a manga series to live-action. Oshi no Ko manga artist Mengo Yokoyari revealed that she's not involved in the upcoming live-action due to schedule conflicts. Meanwhile, author Aka Akasaka revealed his surprise and anticipation about how his tale would be handled.

HIDVE streams the currently airing Oshi no Ko Season 2 anime series, animated by Doga Kobo, which also produces the new Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian anime series.
